Presented by: IMLS in partnership with the Council of American Jewish Museums (CAJM)
Dates: March 5-6, 2024
Location: Rubell Museum, Washington DC
The White House’s National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism challenges us all to confront the reality that antisemitism is rising, and that it threatens not only the Jewish community, but all Americans. In response, museums are finding new approaches to address antisemitism and other forms of hate.
The IMLS and the Council of American Jewish Museums (CAJM) are convening the Summit “Museums Respond: Strategies for Countering Antisemitism and Hate” as part of our work for the National Strategy — to share effective and inspiring approaches, key resources, and new directions grounded in the possibilities of museums.
This invitation-only convening is bringing together 100+ thought leaders from American museums, libraries, and archives. Together we’ll discuss the possibilities of collections, research, education, the arts, dialog, and partnerships in helping us move forward together while countering hate. The day-and-a-half long program will be structured around plenary sessions, facilitated conversation groups, and opportunities for resource sharing and partnership building.
We look forward to exploring these critical issues with you and other leaders from across the field to strengthen the shared future of our museums, our communities, and our nation.
